Buying and selling in Awka made simple, safe, and fast
Introduction
AhiaAwka makes it easy for Awka residents to buy and sell locally. Whether you’re posting your
first listing or browsing for items, here’s everything you need to know
How to Sell on AhiaAwka
Step 1: Create Your Account
1. Click “Sign Up” at the top right
2. Enter your details (name, email, phone, password, Awka location)
3. Verify your phone number with the SMS code we send you
4. You’re all set! ✅
Time: 2-3 minutes
Cost: FREE
Step 2: Post Your Listing
1. Click the big green “Post Ad” button
2. Select your category (Electronics, Vehicles, Real Estate, Japa Sales, etc.)
3. Upload photos of your item (minimum 1, up to 8 photos)
4. Fill in details:
What you’re selling (title)
Description (be detailed and honest)
Price in Naira (₦)
Condition (New, UK Used, etc.)
Your location in Awka
5. Review and click “Submit”
Time: 5-10 minutes
Cost: FREE
Your listing is now LIVE! (Or pending approval if it’s your first 3 listings)
Step 3: Wait for Buyers to Contact You
Buyers will see your listing and contact you via:
📞 Phone call
💬 WhatsApp message
✉️AhiaAwka message (if enabled)
You’ll get notifications when someone is interested!
Step 4: Arrange to Meet
When a buyer contacts you:
1. Answer their questions honestly
2. Agree on a meeting place (recommend: Aroma, Shoprite, UNIZIK Gate, or police station)
3. Set a time (daylight hours recommended)
4. Bring the item and any accessories/papers
Safety tip: Always meet in public! Bring someone with you.
Step 5: Complete the Sale
1. Meet the buyer
2. Let them inspect the item
3. Negotiate price if needed
4. Collect payment (cash or bank transfer)
5. Give them the item
6. Provide a receipt (optional but professional)
Done! 🎉
Don’t forget to mark your listing as “Sold” in your dashboard.
How to Buy on AhiaAwka
Step 1: Find What You Need
Browse by Category:
Click any category on the homepage
Or use the Categories menu
Search:
Use the search bar at the top
Type what you’re looking for (e.g., “iPhone 13”, “Toyota Corolla”, “2-bedroom flat”)
Filter:
By price range
By location (Aroma, Ifite, etc.)
By condition (New, Used)
By seller type (Verified, ID Verified)
Step 2: Review Listings
When you find something interesting:
Look at ALL photos – Check for defects, verify it’s real
Read the description – Is the condition honest? Are specs clear?
Check the price – Is it realistic? Too cheap = possible scam
Check the seller:
✅ Verified badge? (mandatory)
🆔 ID verified? (extra trust)
How long they’ve been a member?
Their location in Awka?
Step 3: Contact the Seller
On the listing page, click:
📞 Call – Directly call the seller
💬 WhatsApp – Message them on WhatsApp
✉️ Message – Send message through AhiaAwka
Ask questions:
“Is it still available?”
“Can I see it in person?”
“Where in [location] are you?”
“Why are you selling?”
“Can we meet at [public place]?”
Good sellers respond quickly and honestly!
Step 4: Arrange to Meet
1. Agree on a public meeting place:
- Aroma Junction
- Shoprite Awka
- UNIZIK Main Gate
- Police station (for expensive items)
2. Set a time (daylight hours best: 10 AM – 6 PM)
3. Bring:
- Someone with you (friend/family)
- Enough cash OR mobile banking app
- Phone charger (keep phone charged)
- Mechanic (if buying a car)
Never:
- Go to their private home
- Meet in isolated areas
- Go alone (especially for expensive items)
- Meet late at night
Step 5: Inspect the Item
Take your time! Don’t let anyone rush you.
For Electronics:
- Turn it on and test everything
- Check for cracks, scratches
- Test camera, speakers, buttons
- For phones: Check IMEI (dial *#06#)
- Check battery health
For Vehicles:
- Test drive
- Check all papers
- Bring a mechanic
- Check engine, tires, AC
For Real Estate:
- Visit the property
- Check documents
- Talk to neighbors
- Hire a lawyer for land
Step 6: Pay & Collect
If you’re satisfied:
1. Negotiate final price (if needed)
2. Make payment:
- Cash: Count carefully, check for fake notes
- Bank Transfer: Do it while both present, wait for confirmation on YOUR phone
- POS: Wait for YOUR confirmation message
3. ONLY hand over money after you’ve inspected and approved the item
4. Get a receipt (ask for one)
5. Take the item immediately
If you’re NOT satisfied:
- Politely decline
- Walk away
- Keep looking!
Step 7: Enjoy Your Purchase!
Done! You’ve successfully bought from AhiaAwka. 🎉

- If they don’t help, report them: report@awkaconnect.ng
- For serious issues, file a police report
